  2. Maar as die Trooster gekom het wat Ek vir julle van die Vader sal stuur, die Gees van die waarheid wat van die Vader uitgaan, sal Hy van My getuig. (Joh 15:26)

  3. Die Trooster, die Heilige Gees, wat die Vader in my Naam sal stuur, Hy sal julle alles leer en sal julle herinner aan alles wat Ek vir julle gesê het. (Joh 14:26)

  4. 13Maar wanneer Hy gekom het, die Gees van die waarheid, sal Hy julle in die hele waarheid lei; want Hy sal nie uit Homself spreek nie, maar alles wat Hy hoor, sal Hy spreek en die toekomstige dinge aan julle verkondig. 14Hy sal My verheerlik, omdat Hy dit sal neem uit wat aan My behoort, en aan julle verkondig. 15Alles wat die Vader het, is myne; daarom het Ek gesê dat Hy dit sal neem uit wat aan My behoort, en aan julle verkondig.   7. When we have to face a future of pain, or of separation and attendant loneliness and single-handedness of struggle, or of strong and sustained temptation, in what spirit shall we face that? In the temper of calm and devout resoluteness; with a full and fixed determination to go bravely and unfalteringly through, shrinking from no suffering, enduring the worst that man can inflict, yielding nothing to the enemy of our soul. We shall be treading in the footsteps of him who “steadfastly set his face,” etc., and who went up to that city of martyrs and gloriously triumphed there.

  20. Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life. Focusing on the self is the opposite of focusing on God. Anyone completely absorbed in self ignores God, ends up thinking more about self than God. That person ignores who God is and what he is doing. And God isn’t pleased at being ignored.
