InsulCorr • INSULCORRTM is a high build single component multi polymer acrylic resin matrix coating • Incorporates insulating, blocking and reflective agents to reduce the transfer of heat • Designed to provide an economical and fast turnaround approach to thermal insulation • Insulating complex components becomes seamless and simple
Industrial Insulative Coatings • Personnel Protection - used to lower substrate temperatures within safe to touch guidelines • Heat exchanger protection - used for personnel protection • Boiler protection and heat retention - used to protect personnel and provide more efficiency for boilers • HVAC - used to control and eliminate condensation in plant areas • Rooftops - used to reduce and seal rooftops from weather and radiant heat gain • Tanks - used to reduce thermal shock, increase control condensation and for heat or cold retention • Piping - used to insulate pipes and provide substrate protection • Substrate protection and insulation - used in various industrial equipment to help insulate equipment against radiant heat gain • Cold boxes - used to help insulate and reduce/eliminate condensation
Application • Single component • Water based • Low to no odor • Mix with mud mixer before use (do not over mix) • Brush, roller, spray (min 33:1 airless) • First coat mist coat application • Subsequent coats are applied in multiple thin passes 10 mil (dft) per pass
Service Exposure • Max temperature rating 400 oF (205 oC) intermittent up to 500 oF (260 oC) • For higher temperature glass mat/adhesive system top coated with InsulCorr can be applied • Primer is required for temperatures above 250oF (120 oC) • For added corrosion protection primer is recommended
Personal Protection • InsulCorr’s cool to touch effect will safeguard employees from hot surface contact • Cool to touch is a result of the lower thermal inertia and heat transfer properties • ASTM C1055 defines safe to touch of a heated surface as the effect on skin contact after 5 seconds of exposure • At temperatures above the maximum safe to touch quantification temperature of 140 oF per ASTM the InsulCorr coating remains cool to touch
Safe to Touch Temperature • With exposure to metallic substrates above 70°C, the rate of injury from a high capacity surface exceeds the body reaction time (less than 1 s to have completed epidermis cell death) such that the blood vessel location or flow has little effect on the level of burn
Exposure Zone • Exposures below the lower curve should not produce permanent injury in normal humans. • Exposures between the curves are described as second-degree burns and have intermediate levels of cell damage. • Exposures at levels above the top line are defined as third-degree burns that cause deep, permanent cell damage and scarring.
