  3. The Expedition of Usama • Safar 11th year. • Farwa bin Umar, ruler of Ma’an killed for accepting Islam. فروة بن عمرو الجذامي والي معان • Usama bin Zayd أسامة بن زيد , 18 year-old, was appointed a commander of an armed expedition to the Byzantine. • Doubts were voiced by some companions.

  4. Signs of the End of Life • In Ramadhan of 10th year, the Prophet secluded for 20 day, rather than 10. Reviewed the Quran twice, instead of one. • During the Farewell Haj, he hinted that this maybe his last Haj. • Revelation of Surat Al-Nasr

  5. Signs of the End of Life • 110 • [1] When comes the Help of Allah, and Victory, • [2] And you see the People enter Allah's Religion in crowds, • [3] Celebrate the Praises of your Lord, and pray for His Forgiveness: for He is Oft-Returning (in Grace and Mercy).

  6. Signs of the End of Life • A visit to Uhud • A visit to Al-Bakee’. “The trial and tribulations are about to come, like the pieces of the darkness of the night”

  7. The Sickness • On the 29th of Safar, the Prophet PBUH attended a funeral then returned home with fever and headache. • The Prophet PBUH became home-confined with illness. Still led the Prayers. • The Prophet PBUH was given a permission to stay with Aisha.

  8. The Final Days • Wedensday 7th of Rabi Awal, the Prophet had high fever and asked for water, gathered from 7 wells, to be poured on him. • He, PBUH, felt better. Delivered a short Khutba in Masjid.

  9. The Final Khutba • Cursed those who made the tombs of the Prophets into Masajid. Do not make my grave an idol of worship. • Exposed himself, PBUH, for punishment by those feel wronged by him.

  10. The Final Khutba • Recommended good treatment for Ansar. • A “salve” of Allah was given the choice between earthly life and being with God. He chose Allah. Abou Bakr cries. • “Abou Bakr has the most favor upon me”

  11. The Final Days • Thursday 8th of Rabi Awal, the Prophet PBUH calls upon companions to write them a list of recommendations, after which there will be no dispute. Some companions question the status of his health and want to wait till he recovers. • The Prophet, PBUH, asks them to leave.

The Final Will • Thursday 8th of Rabi Awal, the Prophet PBUH give the Final 3 recommendations: • Expel Pagans, Jews and Christians from Arabian Peninsula. • Reward and host the delegations coming to Madina the way he, PBUH, did. • Forgotten by narrator (Disputed): • Salah and slaves • Holding tight to Quran and Sunna

  13. The Final Will • Friday 9th of Rabi Awal, the Prophet PBUH give the Final recommendation: • أحسنوا الظن بالله • Think the best of your Lord Allah

  14. The Final Days • Friday 9th of Rabi Awal, the Prophet PBUH, becomes very ill and asks for Abou Bakr to lead the prayers. • Aisha argues for omar to do so. • Omar leads prayer when Abou Bakr was not found. The Prophet disapproves.

  15. The Final Days • Sunday 11th of Rabi Awal: • The Prphet PBUH frees his slaves • Gives all his money in charity (7 dinars) • Aisha had to borrow oil for the lamp • His shield was pawned, to a Jew, for 30 pound of oats.

  16. The Final Day • Monday 12th of Rabi Awal: • The Prophet PBUH, looks upon Muslims in Fajr prayer and smiles. • He, PBUH, looked better. Companions became very happy. They leave to their regular business.

  17. The Final Day • Monday 12th of Rabi Awal: • The Prophet PBUH, whispers into Fatima’s ear. She cries and then smiles. • Calls upon Al-Hasan and Al-Husain, then his wives. • “The Sala, The Sala, and the slaves”

  18. The Final Hour • Monday 12th of Rabi Awal: • The Prophet’s, PBUH, pain increases. He mentioned the poison of Khaybar. • In Aisha’s lap. • The last Siwak

  19. The Final Day • Monday 12th of Rabi Awal, 11th after Hijra: • إن للموت لسكرات Pain of Death • مع اللذين أنعمت عليهم من النبيين و الشهداء و الصالحين, اللهم اغفر لي و ارحمني و ألحقني بالرفيق الأعلى. اللهم الرفيق الأعلى. اللهم الرفيق الأعلى. اللهم الرفيق الأعلى.

Omar’s Position Abou Bakr’s Position The Succession The Burial Wednesday 14th Rabi Awal, 11th year after Hijra [2:144] Muhammad is no more than a Messenger: many were the Messengers that passed away before him. If he died or were slain, will you then turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve him) with gratitude.
