  2. LAB Objectives • Understand the following: • Lab rules. • Teamwork principles. • Assessment. • Required software. • Contact Information. Information Systems Department

  4. Respect • Talking during the lectures is not allowed. • Not allowed to take picture AT ALL. • No Food or drinks inside the lab. Information Systems Department

  5. Communication • Use Email if you want to ask any question • BUT you have to include your name, ID, and section No and should be sent from your PNU emailto get a reply • Questions are encouraged during lectures • Raising hands • Discussion/collaboration (not copying) among students are encouraged • Group study Information Systems Department

  6. Attendance • Attendance will be taken by the end of the class. If you are absent for a reason it is your responsibility to submit your sick leave by the next class. Information Systems Department

  7. Submission • Use the basic cover page in submitting all of your assignments. • Write the following information on the first page of your Homework ( name, ID number, homework#, and the section number). • Assignment must be on A4 papers. • Handwritten assignments will NOT be accepted.   8. Submission • Submissions by email will not be accepted. • No late submissions will be accepted without prior consultation with me. • - (lose 1 mark per day of delay) • Please staple together your sheets. • All assignments are weighted equally. Information Systems Department

  9. Submission • Cheating on homework/project is a serious violation of our religion and university policy, so if we caught any identical assignments both will take zero. Information Systems Department

Project • Make sure you participate in all project phases ( Discussion). • Submission on the assigned due date. • - lose 1 mark per day of delay. • You can discuss the project phase and get feed back from your instructor during lab hour on the same week you submit the phase Information Systems Department

At First… • In this course , you will be working in a group-project. • Each group consists of 5incompatible students , works collaboratively to develop a complete , high quality project within a specific time frame. (The Goal) • Why incompatible? • Different skills • Different interests. • Different personalities. • Different opinions. • Different schedules. • Different responsibilities….etc. Information Systems Department

  15. Open discussion • To complete your project effectively , you should work with your group as a team. HOW? • What are the Common problems and fears in teamwork? and how to deal with them. Information Systems Department

  16. Principles of effective teamwork • Communicate, Communicate, Communicate. • Listen Actively. • Supporting and Building on Ideas. • Involving the Entire Team. • Make a commitment to excellence for the team and with yourself. Information Systems Department

Communicate • Determine: • Contact information (email, mobiles…), • Meeting schedule by knowing students schedule, Exams Schedule. • For each meeting: • Write down the meeting agenda before the meeting. • Estimate meeting time. • Record the meeting summary after the meeting.   18. 2. Active listening • Pay attention to the speaker. • Looking at the speaker. • If you're unclear about something that's been said, ask for more information to clear up any confusion before moving on. • Reviewing and summarizing the discussion. Information Systems Department

Supporting and building on ideas • Support group member's ideas. • Encouraging others to express conflicting views. • Respect other opinions in the team. • Pointing out positive aspects of ideas. • Redirecting attention to ideas and information that have been discarded. Involving the entire team • Avoid being dominated by one or two people. • Encouraging quieter members to speak. • Giving all members equal time and attention. • Distribute workload fairly between team members according to their preferences and assign a sample role for each member. • To enhance learning, assign strong member with weak member. • Avoid disabling students, and write “Kick Out Rules”.
