Water bottles • All children should have a named water bottle that stays in the classroom throughout the day, as the children are encouraged to drink water to keep hydrated. • Water bottles need to go home every day to be cleaned and replenished.

Times Tables • We will be carrying out daily tables tests using Times Tables Rockstars. • The children need to learn and practise their times tables facts (including division) for these tests. • The test will involve answering as many questions as they can on that times table in 3 minutes. • We are really focusing on children consolidating their facts and knowing them at speed (including the division facts) before they move on. • Gem points will be awarded for progress made. • Mathletics logins will be stuck inside the back of their times table books– this is not a weekly homework. It is set every 2/3 weeks but the children can access it as much as possible.
Reading • Guided reading with take place every day throughout the week. • Activities will be linked to each reading group. (These can range from answer questions on a chapter, describing their emotions whilst reading, identifying key words and vocabulary from the text). • Reading journals – hear your child read as often as possible and comment or sign the book. We will check these during morning registration.
Pick and Mix Home Learning • This will go out at the beginning of every term. • We will stick a copy up on the patio door so that you can check if need be. • The children are to complete an activity a week to earn points. • These are due in on Friday. We will share these on a Friday afternoon with the rest of the class. • Once they have reached a certain number of points they will earn a certificate – bronze, silver, gold or platinum!
Reading Journals • These have kindly been provided by FOLMS. • An adult will sign the book on hearing your child read during guided reading. • If possible, please place a protective cover on them. • If they are lost, there will be a £2 charge for a new one.
