Selosi Solo’s Ecological Map Jessie Mifsud Christine Dennis 11am
Introduction Selosi’s parents, and siblings have the most influence on his life. At age 8, he spends a great deal of time at school and therefore his teacher Mrs Applebottom and fellow students also contribute greatly to his development. Personality wise Selosi is very outgoing, and confident however this has caused some behavioural issues as Selosi finds it hard to not interrupt people and has been labelled an attention seeker at school. Selosi’s father is from Samoa and a devout Catholic which has led to great emphasis on the Catholic tradition at home.
Ecological Map • Government and Economy: Labor Party in Power & Economy in Recession Religion: Roman Catholic • Societal Expectations: Selosi’s behaviour is deemed inappropriate by many, such as his teachers and fellow student’s parents. • Selosi also feels the pressure to be thin. • Media: Being overweight, Selosi regularly feels the pressure to be thin. • Community: Selosi is regularly disappointed that due to work commitments his mother has no time to help in the school tuckshop. • Medical Institutions: Selosi lives nearby to many medical institutions and has had all his immunisations and injections. Selosi’s oldest brother (19) was a quiet and sensible child, so when his older brother (17) was born his parents had no idea how to deal with his rude behaviour. Selosi has grown from his brother’s example and rudely interrupts in class. His teacher Mrs Applebottom addresses his behaviour in a very different way to his parents and this confuses Solesi. Also as he is picked up from school by his brother his parents do not regularly come into contact with Mrs Applebottom and therefore his behaviour is not addressed. • School System: Selosi attends a catholic school, his parents therefore need to work hard to be able to afford to send him there. • Culture: Most of Selosi’s culture come from his dad’s side of the family.
