  1. Mrs. Hein’s Weekly Newsletter!September 14, 2012 Language Arts This week we read some great stories on manners. We have been talking about using good manners in school, in public, on the playground, at the table…everywhere! Ask your kiddo about good manners! We also read a story called We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. As we read the story, we used different colored crayons to make different handwriting strokes on our papers. Math Super Job! In math this week we have been working on: * inside and outside * over, under, and on * top, middle, and bottom * left and right We did the Hokey Pokey!! Have me show you how easy it is for me to know my left from my right! Coming up next week: sorting and at the end of the week. Stay tuned for details on our first math test! Upcoming Events Important Information and Reminders! A REMINDER:Please keep your child's red take home folder in their backpack at all times. Please check it daily and remove any papers in Pocket 2 that are to be kept home, sending back any in Pocket 1 when they are completed. DUE: PTO Fundraiser Kidstuff Books are due September 19th ART SMOCKS if you haven’t sent one in already in a large Ziploc bag. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Each week your child will be able to take out a book during his/her library day. This week your child brought home a new book to read….PLEASE be sure your child returns this book back to school on the correct Library Day….which is DAY 2! THANK YOU!!!: For the anti-bacterial donations! If you are able, we still need tissues for cold season and Ziploc bags of any size, especially large, as we use them for various projects throughout the year. Thanks a bunch! Open House: Thursday, September 20th 7-8:30pm. Your KG kiddo is welcome to attend as well! Family Fun Math Homework due Friday, September 21st. Picture Day: September 28th. TO REACH MRS. HEIN: phone 610-351-5820 ext: 21119 Email:heinm@parklandsd.org What else is News? We began behavior books this week. Please check your kiddos green folder daily!! Remember: You need to stay on green to get a treasure from the treasure box! Good behavior is rewarded! Please keep them in your backpacks as we will update them daily! We earned our rainbow reward! We had extra recess time! Creativity! Wait until you see the large gingerbread men we decorated and hung up in our classroom. We also made our very own self-portrait! Way to go KG they are awesome! We had our first fire drill this week. The kiddos did a great job! Next week we will be getting our height and weight taken. SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behavior System) We went onto a school bus with Mrs. Aulisio, our principal, Mrs. Bankos our guidance counselor, and all of KG to review bus safety. (The bus didn’t go anywhere…we just got to practice being safe on the bus!) On Wednesday we had a school wide assembly in the gym. The kiddos got to see skits and video clips on our new behavior system. It was great to watch and learn! They also got to meet the Kratzer Cougar! We continued talking about rules, how we can help each other, and who helps us in school!
