Spelling • Focus on spelling rules, high-frequency words and statutory words • Taught three times a week plus short additional revision sessions • Children to learn words for a spelling test at the end of the week • Spelling lists will be sent home this week & are already available on the school website

  7. The Curriculum • Literacy: Biographies and Autobiographies Stories from our Literary Heritage (Shakespeare) Poetry Fantasy Narrative Persuasive Speeches Weekly GPS focus • History: The Vikings • Art / DT: Grayson Perry & Cross-Stitch Christmas Cards

The Curriculum • Science: Living Things & Habitats plus Animals Including Humans • Computing: How Networks (including the Internet) work -including interpreting data on the Internet, creating and sharing digital content online and the everyday use of computers. Excel • PSHE: Feelings, Friends & Friendships Financial Capability

SATs • The week beginning Monday 11th May 2020 • Reading comprehension test • Writing is teacher assessed based on work covered in class. • There will be a grammar, punctuation and spelling test (GPS). • Three maths papers – arithmetic and two longer papers – focus is on problem-solving • Preparation programme (Jan. 2020 onwards) • Mock SATs – January and March • Booster Classes (start after the February half-term) and Easter revision school (6th April hopefully!)

Results • Pass mark to be 100 • 100 will be worked out on the national average mark. • Higher above or below national average will show if children are below, at or above national expected. • Progress is measured via a complicated formula • We also continue to provide teacher assessment information and test results as the year progresses.
