  2. Shri Kedarnath Dham - A renowned Hindu pilgrimage spot India is a land of many mythological stories and beliefs. Besides being home to many ancient cultures and foreign influences, it has always been a country visited by people who wish to get in touch with their inner self and who wish to experience spirituality on a different level One such pilgrimage in India that is revered by Hindus is called the Shri Kedarnath Dham which is located in Uttarakhand.  According to legend, there are four Dhams or ‘holy abodes’ in India of which the Shri Kedarnath Dham  which features in the epic Mahabharata is also one among them. This temple is believed to be the seat of Shiva and is situated in the Garhwal Himalayan Range at a grand height of 12000 feet.

Pilgrims are allowed to go on a Kedarnath Tour only between the end of April to the beginning of November as the climatic conditions for the rest of the year make travel difficult.Undertaking a Kedarnath Yatra   in one’s lifetime is believed to be important also because any prayer requests that are made at the Shri Kedarnath Dham are usually fulfilled. Most pilgrims who go on a Kedarnath Tour usually visit other holy places and bring some holy water from the rivers Yamuna and Ganga before offering them at the temple. The Kedarnath Temple which enshrines the Jyotirlingam of Shiva was built in the 8th century AD by Adi Shankaracharya. In fact this temple lies adjacent to a temple that was built by the Pandavas who are often considered the heroes of the epic Mahabharata. Tourists will be amazed at the many mythological scenes and other deity carvings that feature in the temple.

  4. The temple itself is a fantastic example of early architecture as it was built out of heavy slabs of grey colour stones. One of the main attractions of the Shri Kedarnath Dham is that pilgrims can sit in the temple Mandap and spend time praying and reflecting in silence.As a part of the Kedarnath Tour package, tourists also get to visit other places of interest at Kedarnath such as: The Shankaracharya Samadhi which is located behind the Kedarnath temple and which is a very revered place today.-    Trijuginarayan which is believed to be the exact place where the wedding of Shiva and his wife Parvathi was solemnized. It is not unusual for tourists and pilgrims who visit Shri Kedarnath Dham to also visit other holy sites such as Haridwar and Badrinath with Kedarnath being the last stop on most Kedarnath Yatra packages.
