  7. Coco Chanel • Born august 19, 1883 • Died January 10, 1971 • Raised in an orphanage and taught to sew • First clothing shop opened in 1910 • She created Trademark suits and little black dresses • Came out with her first fragrance in 1922

  8. Paul Poiret • Born on April 20, 1879 in Paris • Died on April 30 1944 • opened a small shop in Paris in 1903 • he created flamboyant, theatrical designs. • First fragrance was named after his sister in 1911

Women Trends • Long full skirts became shorter and narrower, formed into a “hobble” shirt. • Full at the waist and tapered towards the ankles giving glimpses of ankle. • During WW1 fashion was temporarily ended of development. • Women embraced more comfortable clothes like; pants and skirts. • No more puffed out skirts. • Floor length not trailed. • Hats were always in fashion as long as they were decorated and big. • Corsets and high collars relaxed slightly.

  11. Men's Trends • slacks were wider at the bottom; • fabrics became more lightweight and breathable. • detachable collar came around the neck and ended in front with two, small, overturned corners • Suits were not quite as restrictive or formal.
