  3. Power Hour Agenda • Understand the relationship between reports and dashboards • Overview of the User Interface • Creation of an Eloqua Dashboard

  4. Reports and Dashboards

  5. What is a Dashboard? The link between reports and dashboards • A report is collection or account of raw data which has been organized in to a readable format • A dashboard is built using a single report, or multiple reports • As a report is raw data organized into a chart, a dashboard is a visualization of this data from the report or set of reports

  6. Importance of Dashboards Why should we use a dashboard instead of run reports? • Visual data is much easier to digest • It is easier to spot trends and “hot” areas • Visuals are more persuasive • Retention of knowledge • 35% of knowledge retention comes directly from visual means • Simplifies concepts • Condenses more data in to a smaller space

  7. What is in a good dashboard? How do I maximize the effectiveness of a dashboard? • Minimal is better • Keeping the focus to two or three metrics will help drive the point of the Dashboard without extra clutter • Less detail, more flash • Colour coordination for better segmentation or the visual data • Note that your dashboard is being created to show the effectiveness of one point, build it this way

  8. User Interface

  9. Dashboard Creation User Interface What does it mean? • Datasets • This is where the dashboard obtains the relevant data pertaining to a subset of data • Visualizations • This is the format your data will be displayed • Layouts • This is the actual screen which displays the data
