HEO EMPLOYEE BENEFITS LEAVE PROGRAMS • FMLA - Must work 1250 hrs. within 12 month period (for the employee or family member). • PAID PARENTAL LEAVE - (Must work 12 months for eligibility – to care for a newborn) • PAID FAMILY LEAVE – work 26 weeks of consecutive employment for eligibility (for family member. HEO EMPLOYEE BENEFITS SALARY SCHEDULE • Employees are placed laterally on the appropriate step of the salary upon hire. • Movement within the schedule shall take place on January 1stor July 1stfollowing the completion of at least 11 full months of service. • Please take note: • The last one-year step, you remain on for five years. • The 5thyear step, you remain on for two years. • The final and maximum salary step is the 7thyear step.

  18. HEO EMPLOYEE BENEFITS SCHEDULE FOR NOTIFICATION OF REAPPOINTMENT AND NON-REAPPOINTMENT • HEO employees shall receive written notice of reappointment or non-reappointment on the following schedule (Article 10 of PSC-CUNY Contract) in certificate bearing HEO title on or before April 1st •Excluded HEO employees shall receive written notice of reappointment or non-reappointment on or before May 1st. • An individual who has had prior service in another CUNY School shall be deemed to be serving their initial year of appointment in the first full year of service at the new CUNY School.

  19. HEO EMPLOYEE BENEFITS APPOINTMENTS AND REAPPOINTMENTS • The normal appointment year is July 1 through June 30. • Terms of appointment First Full Year Appointment One Year (any appt between 7/1 – 9/1 counts as your first full year) • First Reappointment One Year • Second Reappointment One Year • Third Reappointment One Year • Fourth Reappointment Two Years • Fifth Reappointment Two Years • An employee who is granted a subsequent reappointment shall receive a Certificate of Continual Administrative Service (13.3B). Such employee shall not be subject to annual or multiple-year reappointments. •

  20. HEO EMPLOYEE BENEFITS RETIREMENT OPTIONS • Service Retirement • Travia –Travia leave is a retirement benefit provided HEO title employees. It is named after Anthony Travia, former speaker of the NYS Assembly who wrote the law. • If you accumulate the maximum of 160 days of sick leave, you can use 80 days which equals one full semester of full pay prior to retirement.

  21. HEO EMPLOYEE BENEFITS RETIREMENT OPTIONS • Phased Retirement • Phased retirement offers eligible CUNY faculty and staff a less abrupt transition to retirement than stopping work all at once, through agreed- upon reduced workload, reduced pay and benefits for up to 3 years. • Applicants must be 65 or older, have at least 15 years of pensionable service, be members of the Optional Retirement Program (primarily TIAA) and irrevocably commit to retire at the end of the phasing period. • Receive 80% pay and work 28 hours per week. • Travia can be paid bi-weekly during the last semester of phasing or paid lump sum at the end of the phasing period.
