  4. Project Update Treatment Plant • Operational since end of December 2011 • Trials indicate plant delivering on resource consent conditions • Spartan Construction, as part of the contract, will be operating the plant for one year (May 2013)

  5. Financial Update • Project budget is on track (no surprises) • Potential for some savings in certain areas, these will be confirmed at the end of the project • As published, UAC $641 plus GST

  6. Project Update Reticulation • Expanded to include 12 dwellings further along Wilson Road North • Construction 95% complete – excludes extension along Wilson Road North and dwellings along waterfront in Little Waihi

  7. Project Update Grinder Pump installations Total connections – 531 Completed – 448 Outstanding connections - 72 Missed connections (go back to) – 20 Te Arawa Lakes Trust property – 30 Wilson Road North extension – 12 Against scheme - 10

Multiple Dwellings Definition of an additional dwelling: “A self contained residential unit designed for or occupied exclusively by one household and includes apartments, semi-detached and detached houses, home units, town houses and similar forms of residential development” Number of multiple dwellings in Maketu & Little Waihi - 44

  9. Affordability • Payment of rates due: • 21 October 2012 • 21 March 2013 • Staff in rates team • Rebate $590 (as rates have increased more people will be eligible for this rate rebate)

  10. Trade Waste Bylaw • Regulates the disposal of trade waste into Council’s wastewater system • Ensures the protection of staff, public & infrastructure • Complies with Resource Management Act • 1 x trade waste connection – Maketu Pies

  11. Multiple Pans Non-residential properties - commercial & not-for-profit organisations, with more than one pan will pay “multiple pan” charges for each additional pan • Uniform Annual Charge = A + (B x C) A = standard annual charge for the first toilet B = Additional toilets C =Fixed charge component of the UAC

  12. Multiple Pans Example: Maketu School UAC - $641 No. of pans – 10 Fixed charge - $424.66 Annual charge = 641 + (9 x 424.66) = $4,462.94 + GST

  13. Confirmed Uniform Annual Charge (UAC) UAC based on: • Fixed costs – overheads, loan servicing & interest payments • Variable costs – operational costs 2012 / 2013 UAC - $641 plus GST or $737.15 incl. GST

  14. Process if property does not connect • 10 property owners have confirmed they do not want to connect to the scheme • Council will work with the Regional Council to ensure all properties will be connected • Affected properties will be charged the standard Wastewater UAC from 1 July 2012 and associated connection costs

  15. Wastewater Meters • Selected properties within Maketu and Little Waihi will have wastewater flow meters installed to monitor wastewater discharges • The data will be used to support any future review of wastewater charging • x 5 residential, Maketu Pies, Whakaue Marae, Maketu School, x 3 camp grounds and Park Road toilet block

  16. Water Metering • Approximately 505 meters have been installed • 12 cross-connections located and are being replaced with separate connections and new meters • Meters may still be required for some dwellings on Te Arawa land in Little Waihi • Project due to be complete by end of June 2012

  17. Cell Phone Tower • Proposed location - to the side of new wastewater treatment plant • Preferential design • Submission of consent ready to go • Vodafone finalising communications

  18. Power Supply • Issues with power reduction to property • Project Manager in discussion with power authority • Please keep advising us of these issues • Power suppliers being urged to address the issue
