Suman Ahuja December 8, 2009 Final Project: Eating Disorders.
Introduction • Project Description • A comprehensive website on Eating disorders • Briefly describes all forms of ED, symptoms, and treatments • Different from websites already existing • Can be used by non-medical person • Language used is scientific, yet easily understood (avoiding medical jargons) • Less navigation to find useful info.
Technical Challenges • Coding combinations • Using different styles on EW (e.g. Java) • Images • Limited knowledge of EW resulted in challenges adding many factors such as, graphics, java scripts, colors, background, etc.
Design Desicions • Background Color • Pink as most eating disorder patients are women • Images • Many people do not know differences between the three ED’s or physical symptoms associated with them, hence the set of pictures describing each condition. • Limited yet sufficient information was the key element of this website, hence the screens were simple to keep the readers attention on the information and not fancy designing.
Lessons Learned • Image challenges • User friendly information and design maybe somewhat challenging at times • Information/content size • Organizing the whole website in general.
