As part of the property, the spouse was awarded a share of his wife’s future military retirement as expressed in the formula: # of months married while on active duty X 50% of the disposable retired pay # of months of active duty service This order clarifies that the number of months married while on active duty was 307 months. The number of months of active duty service cannot yet be determined because TSgt Julie Doe, SSN 333-33-3333 is still on active duty with the United States Air Force. As part of the property, the spouse was awarded a share of his wife’s future military retirement as expressed in the formula: # of months married while on active duty X 50% of the disposable retired pay # of months of active duty service This order clarifies that the number of months married while on active duty was 201 months. The number of months of active duty service was 240. Julie Doe retired on September 1, 1997 with 20 years of credible service. Julie Doe, SSN 333-33-3333, retired as a Technical Sergeant.   3. Survivor Benefits Plan (SBP) An insurance program to protect the spouse or former spouse of a retiree who dies. Full coverage costs about 6% of the retirement plan. Without electing SBP at the time of the retirement all retired payments stop at the death of the retiree. Medical Benefits www.tricare.mil children of active duty and retired members are automatically covered Unremarried 20/20/20 former spouses - those former spouses that were married to an active duty member for twenty years while that person was on active duty for at least 20 years and those 20 years overlap www.tricare.osd.mil/chcbp some former spouses are eligible if they do not meet the 20/20/20 rule. Cost is $310 a month and coverage usually only lasts 3 years If former spouses have other coverage they are not eligible for TRICARE or CHCBP
