  2. THE BOTTOM LINE Our Insurance Program costs GEA/GSD $60 millionannually 

  3. Insurance Comparison • 2011-2012 • 9 percent increase • Cost $3 million in changes • 2010-2011 • 12.6 percent increase • Cost $6.7 million in changes

  4. Options……… • Make changes to the coverage. • Co-pays • Prescriptions • Deductibles • Out-of-Pocket • GEA has asked for the money that could be generated if we tweaked the above items. Unsure of what we will have to change to get to three (3) million dollars. • Change monthly premiums (Contribution Rates) • Presently • You pay 5% and GSD pays 95% for you and kids • Spouses pay 20% and GSD pays 80% • Next Year • You would pay 10% and GSD pays 90% for you and kids • Spouses pay 25% and GSD pays 75%

  5. Usage is driving yearly increases… REMEMBER: Use what you need, but need what you use!

  6. Wellness Programs… • Encourage members to work on living a healthy lifestyle. Remember, one’s mental health is as important and one’s physical health!

  7. Your help is needed! • Please talk with your members and get their feelings on the insurance issues. • If you do it in the faculty room, non-members may be listening and want input. • Possible issue organizing opportunity to get people to sign up through EEL.

  8. Your help is needed (cont.) • Please email Star with your responses. • Negotiations formally begin after Spring Break. • We negotiate all day on: • April 25 • April 26 • April 28 • We hope to have a tentative agreement to bring to you on May 11 for ratification.
