  2. 교훈 7 : 묵묵히 행동하라 “공부 어떻게 하면 잘 할 수 있지?” “잔말 말고 공부해!”    Just do it. 행동이 철학이고곧 힘이다. 세상의 유명한 말은 말 이상의 행동이 있었기에 기록으로 남아있는 것이다. 행동 없는 말은 울리는 꽹과리에 불과하다. 목표는 정진(精進)으로 달성되는 것.

  3. 교훈 8 : 팀워크를 중시하라 팀의 구성원들이 공동의 목표를 달성하기 위하여 각자 역할에 따라 책임을 다하고 협력적으로 행동하는 것 팀워크가 좋은 팀에는 갈등이 없는 것이 아니라, 언제나 갈등의 해결을 찾는 매커니즘이 있다. 팀워크는 개인의 희생 위에 존재하지만, 개인은 자신만의 희생으로 여기지 않는다. 팀워크 자체가 가장 큰 성과이며, 반드시 팀워크가 우월한 성과만을 내는 것은 아니다. 성과주의에 기초한 팀워크가 아니면 지속되기 어렵다.

  4. 팀워크와 리더십 • 거미와 꿀벌의 차이 거미는 자기 힘에 의지해 홀로 일하기 때문에 독을 만들어 낸다.반면에, 꿀벌은 자연에서부터 가져온 원재료를 가지고 일을 함으로써 꿀을 만들어낸다. 그리고 생태계의 원활한 성장을 돕는다.-프란시스 베이컨-

  5. 팀워크와 리더십 • 자신이 혼자 다 알아서 할 수 있다고 생각하는 유능한 (?) 사람들은, 다른 사람을 신뢰하지 못하고,타인에 대한 존중과 배려보다는 비판과 무시로 일관할 수 있습니다. • ‘팀보다 뛰어난 개인은 없다’는 사실을 아는 사람만이 리더의 자격이 있습니다. - 행복한 경영이야기, 2012.5.23.

Sam (Samuel Moore) Walton 1918. 3 ~ 1992. 4Founder of Wal Mart,The world’s largest retailer. - Walton showed signs of an entrepreneurial gift early on, selling magazine subscriptions, starting at about age 7 or 8. - He worked his way through college with newspaper routes. - After adding routes and hiring helpers, he was earning $4,000 to $5,000 a year. - He attended the University of Missouri at Columbia, earning a business degree in 1940. - Walton was inducted into the U.S. Army on July 1942, and was married on February 1943. - The couple bought a Ben Franklin five-and-dime franchise • in Newport and opened it for business on September 1945.

  7. Sam Walton Discount marketing requires a large customer base, problematic in a town of 3,000 people. Walton’s answer was to open stores in other small towns. In 1952, Walton opened a Ben Franklin franchise in Fayetteville (Washington County). Soon, he opened another. By then, his brother Bud helped Walton launch and manage the stores. By the early 1960s, the Waltons owned sixteen Ben Franklin stores in Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas. It was the nation’s largest chain of independently owned variety stores.

  8. Wal Mart In 1969, Wal-Mart was incorporated. By January 31, 1970, Walton and his brother owned eighteen Wal-Mart stores and fourteen Ben Franklins. In 1970, the company offered 300,000 shares of public stock. By 1976, Walton had closed all his Ben Franklin stores. By the end of 1980, 330 Wal-Marts were in operation. By 1990, there were 1,573 stores, and annual sales were $25.8 billion. In 1991, Wal-Mart became the nation’s largest retailer, with 1,700 stores. In 1997, the company surpassed $100 billion in sales. At his death, Walton’s net worth was estimated at $21 billion to $23 billion.
