  1. Scouts 2018-2019 8th Kildare Maynooth

  2. Court of honour -The patrol leaders and assistant patrol leaders planned the next 6 weeks. County youth fora -We gathered with other scouts to discuss the county agenda. Shelter building-We exercised our pioneer abilities by building different bivi shelters in donadea forest using only natural items like sticks and leaves.

  3. Hostelling -We went hostelling for our first trip of the year. We had lots of cut down trees where we could practise our axe and saw skills. We did bases out building a fire to hopefully get our back woods badges at the end of the camp. PL and APL training -The PLs and APLs went to this. We were split up with other scouts around Kildare and had different bases we had to complete.

  4. Old folks sale -We went to Maynooth Post Primary School to set up the old folks sale. We helped with the raffle and ater got to keep a few things that weren’t sold. Sleepover -We had a sleepover in the den, got pizza, sweets, watched a movie and played games, it was very fun and different to our normal camps. 12 days raffle tickets selling at church -The morning after the sleepover we went to the church to sell raffle tickets.

  5. Lough Dan hiking camp -We hiked at 8 pm and made it to our campsite at 1-2am. A very tiring hike especially with all our equipment but its was loads of fun.

  6. Group shield -We were split into two groups and we did bases according to the theme Tom Crean for actual County Shield. This was a practise for County Shield.

  7. Group Shield training day -We went to the den to train our pioneering skills for Shield. Group Shield training evening -We went to the den again to practise for Shield the following week. Group Shield planning meeting -We planned for Shield, made our sign, chose the jobs for those who were picked for Shield.

  8. County Shield -County Shield is a competition with scouts around Kildare. We came 2nd runner up, placed gold, won environmental, test meal and log book. We had an article posted in the liffey champion, you can view a framed copy in the hall when you walk in.

  10. Group Camp (annual) We went to Roscommon and one of the days we went to carrick-on-Shannon in Leitrim -This year was different to our other annual camps. We shared it with the beavers, cubs and ventures.

  11. Phoenix Because we came top three in the county on shield we got to go to phoenix which is the all Ireland competition. Our team name was the 5 R’s. We were awarded bronze standard on this competition.
