  2. Our mission is to coordinate care and assistance for all students, undergraduate and graduate, who experience complex, hardship, and/or unforeseen circumstances, by providing individualized assistance and tailored interventions. Student Care & Outreach

  3. Student Care & Outreach: Continuum of Care Immediate Threat of Harm to Self/Others General Concern

  4. Hub of Care and Support • SCO often serves as the starting point for students, families, faculty, and staff, who are navigating concerns related to: • Academic issues • Substance abuse • Change in financial situation • Emotional distress • Mental health resources • Death of a family member or friend • Social and adjustment issues • Complex family issues • Victim of a crime (non-NDAH)

Campus-wide Case Management Team • Integrated university-wide network of care • Goal of facilitating student success by harnessing university resources through coordinated communication • Breaking down silos of information to provide collaborative care • Meet weekly to triage complex student needs

What should I do if I am concerned about a student? • Speak directly to the student • Build on your existing relationship • Contact the appropriate office(s) or provide resources • Close the loop with Student Care & Outreach in order to prevent creating a silo of information • Do not hesitate to call the police if you believe you or the student are in immediate danger

Behavioral Assessment and Response Council (BARC) • BARC is charged to: • Promote the safety of campus • Protect against threats of immediate harm to students or other members of the campus community • Determine the appropriate response to students exhibiting behaviors threatening to themselves and/or others

  11. BARC Process • BARC case management is housed within Student Care & Outreach • BARC meets every week on Wednesday afternoons, and as necessary • BARC, in partnership with SCO, will decide if a case will be handled by BARC or if it will be handled by SCO
