  2. In generall … • a large world-famous Gothic church • the most rulers were crowned there • in the heart of London - next to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament • It is said, that it is the ever most expensive build of Middle Ages. • It took place there many funeral rites of famous people.

  3. History • 7th century- a cloister of St. Peter on the Thorn Island • About 1050 was it made to abbey by Edward the Confessor. • Until the 19th century, Westminster was the third seat of learning in England, after Oxford and Cambridge.

  4. Personalities • King Harold, William the Conqueror, Edward III, Henry VII, Elizabeth I, Charles II, William III, Mary II, Queen Anne etc. Scientists: Charles Darwin (evolution theory), Ernest Rutherford (radioactivity) Writers: Rudyard Kipling (The Jungle book), Charles Dickens (The Adventures of Oliver Twist ), Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice ), the Brontë sisters (Jane Eyre ) Remains of them are saved in a part of church named Poets' corner.   5. Lady Diana Spencer(29 July 1981 – 28 August 1996) • Diana, Princess of Wales, was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales. • She attended to charity, especialy to Red Cross. • She died in car crash in France. Diana's funeral took place in Westminster Abbey on 6 September 1997.

  6. The Da Vinci Code • Author: Dan Brown • Writen: 2003 • It critized this book because of practical mistakes. • Filming of interiors was forbidden. Filmmakers had to use shots from other London churches.

  7. Choir and choir school • The Choir of Westminster Abbey is renowned worldwide as one of the finest choirs of its type. • 30 boys and 12 professional adult singer • The Abbey's is now the only choir school in the country dedicated to the education of choristers.
