  2. Transportation signage Warning signs help us be aware of our surroundings. What do you think would happen if there were no signs on highways or main roads? There would be many collisions ; one car re-ending another, cars going the same direction as oncoming traffic, icy roads ; crashing into mountains, cars and people! This would create problems with traffic, road damage, and with governments, there are more important things to proceed money into. To avoid this problem they provided signs. This way we don’t have ongoing problems, and dangerous situations. Different signs symbolize different instructions. This way we are always given the safest directions, giving caution, and providing safer transportation.

  3. Signage- Hazardous Situations • We can run into dangerous situations daily. There’s always something there warning us; don’t touch, drink.. Etc. We always know what NOT to do. We’re given this awareness by signage. What situations would you be in if you didn’t have signs to guide you through, or provide caution? These signs keep us away from dangerous : equipment, chemicals and products

Environmental/ Produce/Wildlife Signage Each day, we are faced upon: an environmental area, produce distributors, factories, habitats/wildlife and many different environments that need to be protected and that shouldn’t be disrupted upon. In this situation how do we know how to treat or provide the correct actions towards these resources/ environments? Once again, signage leads us along the way. Telling us what to DO, and what NOT to do.

  5. Companies • We associate symb0ls with shops, foods, medicines ; overall products. If there weren’t signs for the products we purchase, we would be lost. Not being able to identify which product is which, what place has that particular item, it would overall be confusing. That’s why shops have symbols, slogans and names.

  6. Signs to assist disabled people There are many signs to support disabled people. These signs can be for the: blind, deaf or whichever disability. Some, signs have Braille underneath the writing. This guides them through each letter, using the sense of touch. There are also yellow strips ahead of the road or in a station or public service. This strip is covered with small bumps, this lets the person know how far to go or in visually impaired people’s cases where to go.

How do we use signs to get around in the modern world. • We are known to many signs. • Restaurant signs • Historical Signs • Transportation signs • Disabled signage • Informative signs • Environmental signs • Warning Signs and many others • The two main signs are informative signs and warning signs. These signs provide us with important information! Without them we wouldn’t know where to go and what to do. Therefore signs have a vital role in the modern world. Technology allows us to create signs so easily, it is simple to direct us through every situation, these days.
