Domes Manufacturers and Suppliers

The metal dome achieves comparatively greater tactile with significantly shorter actuation than Poly dome, and are used extensively in telecommunication products due to the properties like Slim design & light weight, Short actuation with excellent tactile, High operating temperatures of 85°C, Excellent Mechanical Life, etc..http://www.polytech.com.sg/Domes.html

  1. Tactile Metal Domes Suppliers in Singapore

  2. Metal domes add a tactile feel to products in a variety of industries which includes automotive switches, medical instrumentation, aerospace cockpit panels, wireless handheld devices, smart card applications, membrane panels, marine controls, security & military devices, mobile communications and anywhere else where low-profile momentary switch is required.

  3. Polytech works directly with customers worldwide and our goal is to provide the best customer service and industry expertise to make our customer’s project a success. Every project is different and Polytech has the in-house capabilities to create custom domes for your product.

  4. Whether you require a minor adjustment to an existing tactile dome e.g. tactile trip force, snap action feel (tactile ratio),or a completely new design concept, Polytech has the expertise to accommodate. Our tactile domes are momentary switch contacts that, when used in conjunction with a printed circuit board, flex circuit or membrane, which normally becomes open tactile switches.

  5. Tactile domes are placed onto the substrate with pressure sensitive adhesive tape array or captured in a membrane-type pocket design. The movement of air is called venting and is important so that the dome functions properly. Lack of venting can cause unfavourable effects on the feel and function of the switch.

  6. Mostly venting is not absolutely necessary for every application but it is desirable in almost all applications. When the dome is depressed, then air is trapped underneath it and it is recommended that a vent channel be present to avoid compressing the air under the dome when actuated.

  7. The venting of the dome can be achieved a number of different ways. Vent channel can go from dome to dome via a spacer layer and dome arrays can be top vented through the polyester material. Vent channel can go through the board and the absence of proper venting will lead the dome to result in significant loss of tactile response.

  8. In addition to our wide range of standard tactile metal domes, we also offer custom metal domes which your application may need. Whether you need a custom size, shape, actuation force, etc., we will work within your design constraints to provide the exact metal dome for your application.

  9. Do you have competitors and you aren’t sure if we have already made that particular metal dome? Please use our cross-reference search engine to find out if we have already manufactured an exact match for your search, chances are good that we have something very close that we can recommend and if not, we’ll be happy to create the dome for you.

  10. A typical characteristic of metal dome switches are that, the life decreases as the actuation force increases in relation to the domes size. The result is that design engineers have often had to sacrifice actuation force in order to achieve the desired cycle life.
