Learning Objectives At the end of this lesson: • All pupils will be able to identify the 3 different industrial sectors with examples • Most pupils will be able to show “local” business examples for each industrial sector & be able to peer assess activities. • Some pupils will be able to analyse how business decisions impact on the UK industrial sectors.

  4. Industrial sectors All industries belong to a particular industrial sector. There are 3 main industrial sectors which are: • Primary Sector • Secondary Sector • Tertiary Sector

  5. Primary Sector The Primary Sector – “Dig it Up” This is where materials are either produced or raw materials (coal, fishing, oil) obtained - (Extraction)

  6. Secondary Sector The Secondary Sector – “Make it” This is where with manufacturing, processing, assembly and construction of raw materials (paper mill, car plant, ship building yard) – (Making products)

  7. Tertiary Sector Tertiary Sector – “Sell it” This is often called the Service Sector. It involves providing services to businesses & individuals and there are 4 main sections: • Public Services • Financial and Business Services • Transport and Communication • Retailing, distribution, hotels & catering

  8. Activity • Create a leaflet • Include the theory on the 3 industrial sectors • Describe a local and national example for each sector • Explain the chain on production for a product from raw material to the finished goods

Activity • Create a leaflet in publisher (Brochure) on Industrial Sectors including: • One page for each of the three industrial sectors • Primary • Secondary • Tertiary • Give examples of both a local and a national example for each industrial sector (a paragraph about each business) • Use text and images to show your chosen businesses.

The farm is a family run business and produces lamb, vegetables and pick-your-own fruit and also has a secluded caravan park with 10 pitches. We are passionate about producing traditional & home-grown produce, and the farm has become famous for it's Pick-Your-Own strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries & blackcurrents. We are hoping to extend our fruit season and expand our range of fruit now that our new farm shop is open, beginning with longer strawberry & raspberry seasons.

Scott Parker, the driving force behind Stanton Beef, prides himself on providing a unique “to the door” hamper delivery service offering competitive value for money by cutting out the middle man.

They have a quarry near the A38 in Fradley, Staffordshire. There products include aggregates, asphalt, ready-mixed-concrete, bricks, blocks and cement. This broad product range also includes block paving, precast concrete, clay roofing products and garden landscaping materials.  They even offer specialist contracting and civil engineering services.

The site is situated in beautiful surroundings on the edge of the National Forest. The site was opened in 2001, and the lakes are now well established and are fully stocked with coarse fish species to provide excellent angling facilities for all abilities. Both lakes are fed by natural spring water which surfaces from various sources on our site. Both lakes are stocked with Common Carp, Mirror Carp, Ghost Carp and other species such as Tench, Perch, Golden Orfe, Rudd, Golden Rudd, Roach and Skimmer Bream. For the winter periods we have introduced Barbel, Ide and Chub. We are now regularly seeing pleasure bag catches of 100lb plus
