(4) cost-per-citation metric EX : 一開始，先把資料庫裡在1999年期間出版的文章與作者 (大學教授) 列出，資料庫也可以把這些文章內被引用的文章列出。NU2為當年前兩年被出版的文章，NU2為當年前五年被出版的文章。例如: NU2=>1997、1998 NU5=>1994、1995、1996、1997、1998 每年購買JASA的價格為JDOLLARS，則預估未來學者的文章被引用的費用為 (2/NU2)*JDOLLARS (5/NU5)*JDOLLARS。 對於固定預算的實驗室、圖書館，這樣的規則可以去選擇＂最適合＂的期刊去購買。 JASA在這樣的規則下，排序是23，而從排序1到22的成本就超過預算， 則JASA將不會被選擇購入。

  4. (5) the effective contributory impact factor JASA也可以對於同樣的資料庫去對在JASA出版的文章做出＂遊戲＂規則。這些規則可能使文章在三個方面有正面或負面的影響。 (A)文章的發表在JASA論文數量增加。 (B)文章可能會引用以前的JASA出版物。 (C)文章本身可能會在未來的出版物引用。 假如JASA的Impact factor 為IJ ，而文章的the effective contributory impact factor為Ic，而IJ 所有文章的Ic平均 [ IJ = Average (Ic) ]。

  5. EX: 有篇文章(Q50)出版於1997，文章內所引用於1995、1996於JASA的文章數為NREF，之後Q50被個期刊引用的次數為NCITED。則文章的 Ic為： Ic­ = 0.5 * NREF + 0.5 * NCITED 當Ic大於 IJ 時，會對JASA造成正面的影響；反之，當Ic小於 IJ 時，會對JASA造成負面的影響。

(6) projected effective contributory impact factor 假設有篇文章(Q51)出版於2000，文章內所引用於1999、1998於JASA的文章數為NREF，而藉由資料庫去尋找第一作者在引用文章中的前十年(1988-1997)中發表的文章，假如在這10年間有3篇文章，平均於在其他期刊(不含JASA)中的引用數為 NCITEDTR， TR 代表歷史紀錄。所以修正的 effective contributory impact factor 為 Ic,proj= 0.5 * NREF + 0.5 * NCITEDTR 如果第一作者沒有發表文章，則 NCITEDTR 為0。
