  1. Introductions • Paul Lidy, Director of Residence Life • Resident Assistants • Next Year…  • Stand If You...

Successful Candidates Can: • Develop a floor community, programs, and positive relationships • Role model mature and appropriate behavior • Take responsibility for the hall environment, student development, and learning • Attend weekly staff meetings and periodical training sessions as provided • Return to campus in early August for important training

  3. Successful Candidates Can: • Maintain confidentiality • Complete monthly safety check lists • Be positive in their attitude and action • Establish a positive working relationship with every student on the floor • Enroll in no more than 18 credit hours each semester • Have a GPA of 2.75 or above

  4. Successful Candidates Can: • Devote a considerable amount of time to their position, without harming their studies (spend at least 4 nights a week on your floor) • Understand that this position is the best decision you will make of your undergraduate career, but it is a position that requires a selfless servant leader.

  5. Functional Aspects • Programming • Monthly Floor Meeting & Dinner • Monthly Bulletin Board • Monthly Learning Outcome Program • Monthly On-Campus Event • Duty • Serve “on duty” once a week, and various weekends throughout the semester • Respond to crisis • Mediate Relationships

Functional Aspects • Administrative Tasks • Weekly meetings and weekly reports with Pro Staff • Monthly Safety Check Forms • Incident reports, as needed • Community Builder • Develop a strong relationship with the floor FYEM-LO • Create a thriving community on your floor • Be innovative, and have passion for the ORL

  7. If you have come for the compensation (covered single room and board), you are here for the wrong reason...and you will never get your money’s worth.

  8. The Process • Attend the Informationals! (Check:Done) • Fill out the Google Doc you will receive on Wednesday • Create a professional resume and cover letter and e-mail them to orl@millikin.edu before Tuesday, February 11th at 5pm.

  9. The Process 4. Upload your video response to YouTube by Tuesday, February 11th. • In your e-mail you will receive three questions in which we are asking for your response • Videos should reflect your personality and be a mix between a formal interview and an audition for The Real World.  • Under 5 minutes!

  10. The Process 5. Group Interviews – Monday, Feb 17th 6. Presentation and Scenario Response – Saturday Feb. 22nd from 8am-1pm 7. Individual Interview – Week of Feb 24-27th 8. Offers made on Friday, Feb 28th 9. Housing Selection – March 3rd

  11. ResumeHelp • The Career Center is happily offering resume help on these following dates: • Thursday Feb 6th: 4pm-6pm • Friday Feb 7th: 1pm-3pm • Monday Feb 10th: 10am-12pm The Career Center is also giving an optional workshop directly after this meeting in this same room 
