  2. Welcome – What are our goals? • Improve our reading skills • Improve our writing skills • Improve our speaking & listening skills • Have fun (& learn a lot)!

  3. Basic Rules of the Class • Treat everyone with respect – don’t make fun of people • No cell phones or Ipods • No food or drink • Be on time to class • No hoods, inappropriate shirts or clothes

  4. Supplies • 3-Ring Binder - 1 ½ - 2 inches thick • Pens • Packet of lined paper • Jump drive • Email address – (an appropriate one) • Login to Webgrader

  5. Alittle about me. . . . • I grew up in Rhinelander, WI – Home of the HODAG – find out what it is for extra credit for tomorrow • I love to have fun! I love to go to Brewer’s games, hang out with friends, be outside fishing, kayaking, gardening or swimming. • Reading is a passion of mine as well – I’m currently reading Tales of a Female Nomad • I’m really into photography – you’ll probably see the camera in class -I really enjoy writing as well!

  6. How I got to be a teacher • I graduate from UW-EC with a degree in English Education. • I moved to Los Angeles where I taught at La Puente High School. • I moved back to Wisconsin and got a job working at West Bend East . . . • And NOW, I am member of the Germantown Warhawk team!!!!

My family • My brother Dave goes to UWM & my sister Erica lives in Denver • My parents still live in Rhinelander where they are teachers. • I have a huge, wonderful extended family as well. • My husband moved here from LA with me and is a teacher as well • I have two adorable mutts Zoe (on the left) and Elle (on the right). . . . I also have a cat, Jag

  9. Book Survey(Please get out a sheet of paper and answer these questions for me – make sure your name is on it!) • I really enjoy reading? Y/N • Three things I like to do outside of school are . . . Please rank these in order of your interest. You must rank them from 1 to 9. ____ I really enjoy history. I like to read and learn about historical events and people. ____ I really enjoy history, but I like to read fiction stories about it – things that aren’t necessarily true, but take place in history. ____ I really enjoy sports – playing them, watching them or learning about them. ____ I really enjoy science fiction – anything that has to do with the future or what our world might be like. ____ I really enjoy fantasy or things like The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc. ____ I really enjoy movies or books about people my age in high school things like The Hills orother MTV reality shows. ____ I really like action – I like movies with a lot of action and adventure – there is something always going on. ____ I love mysteries and not knowing where something is headed. ____ I love adventures and the outdoors – I really like being outside doing things like hunting, fishing, or any other outdoor adventure.
