Some may get more side effects, while others may get just marginal. • Usually people don’t have long-term side effects from chemo treatment. • Before starting the treatment make sure that you consult your doctor about which side effects are most common with your chemo, how bad could it be and how long would they last for.

  7. Time period of the side effects • Healthy cells recover over time again the time period depends from person to person. • The recovery time depends on factors such as the amount of drugs consumed, the type of treatment and your overall health. • Sometimes the side effects go away quickly, but some may take months or even years, whereas some may even last for a lifetime. • The treatment may cause long-term damage to the heart, kidneys, lungs and reproductive organs, but these effects may not last for a lifetime. Continued

  8. There are certain types of chemo treatment which causes delayed effects; this is the most horrifying fact that it may lead to a second cancer that may show up many years later. • Patients often become discouraged by the fear of the time period of the treatment and the side effects that they have. If you feel this way, you can always consult the cancer centers and find alternate ways to reduce the time period or the dose of drugs. www.empowereddoctor.com
