  1. How to Find the Right MMA Gloves For You • There are a ton of brands and no two gloves are designed the same way. The important thing to remember is that there are no right or wrong gloves to chose, every fighter chooses what works best for them.

  2. Comfort, Comfort, Comfort • I can't stress that enough. You are going to be punching... a lot. You need to make sure the gloves feel good and that they feel good FOR YOU. As a striker your gloves will be your best friend.

  3. Get good mileage • Gloves on sale are on sale for a reason. Most likely they will fall apart right after you buy them and you're back to square one. If you're going to drop your hard earned money on a pair of gloves, make sure that they will be able to take punishment.

  4. How's the flex? • Not all gloves are created equal. The materials are different for a number of reasons and will cause different effects. Heavier padded gloves tend to be more rigid but have better protection. With less rigid gloves you may feel it a bit more.

  5. Check the thumb • This may seem trivial or unimportant but there is more to it than what you think, especially when it comes to possibly injuring your hand. It is up to you which style you want, just remember, if you are protective of your thumb make sure you know what you are buying.

  6. Don't sweat the price • If you find a pair that you like then rest assured you will get your dollars worth on your gloves. If you are just starting out you can be a bit more lax but if you are serious about fighting than you can't spend too much on a good pair.
