Alligators are remarkable reptiles characterized by their tough scales and soft underbellies. Unique among their features, they possess a soft spot on their heads. They inhabit swamps and mud-filled areas, where they create protective nests, known as dens, for laying eggs. These carnivorous creatures have a varied diet that includes turtles, fish, geese, and deer; they are known to ambush their prey stealthily. Alligators reach maturity and reproduce around 7 to 12 years of age, ensuring the continuation of their species in wetlands.
