  2. Summary • The Atkins Diet was developed by Dr. Robert Atkins in the 1970’s and the diet helps reduce the amount of carbohydrates and turn fat into fuel.

  3. How Atkins Diet Works • By reducing carbohydrates to a minimum the the body goes into Ketosis which means the body burns fat for fuel.

  4. Atkins Diet Facts • Based on the theory that overweight people consume too much carbohydrates • Our bodies burn fat and carbohydrates for energy • Developed by Dr. Robert Atkins in the 1970’s

  5. Positive Facts • Makes your heart healthy • Reduces carbs • Eat more protein • Prevents disease • Fat is used for energy
