  1. SOLAR FINANCING SCHEME by STATE BANK of PAKISTAN

  2. BACKGROUND OF THE PROGRAM Pakistan has been bearing energy crises as well as environmental degeneration with the use of non-renewable sources. The cost of electricity is increasing quickly, and commercial growth is declining. To counter these problems, SBP started Solar Financing Pakistan so businesses and homeowners can spend on renewable energy with the help of an investment from banks.

  3. SCOPE OF THE PROGRAM This program shall enable more people to adopt renewable energy sources, which will aid in achieving a free and continuous supply of electricity. The surplus energy which is produced by a house shall also be accessible to other people through net metering, and in this way, it will influence the whole nation.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA • The criterion to qualify for this program has been kept very easy to cope with the fundamental purpose of the program that is to assist more people in switching to renewable energy by making it affordable. The qualification criteria contain only these two requirements: • Must have a Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) • Must be the owner of the house, or the business where the solar panel system is to be installed

  5. MARK UP RATE The markup rate has been set reasonable to make sure more people can manage to afford it and become a part of this drive. The markup rate has been selected 3+3=6 per annum by the SBP. The 3% can further be decreased after negotiation, depending upon your relationship with your bank.

  6. SOLAR FINANCING BANKS Almost all the banks are giving solar system financing in Pakistan under this program. The required certificates and final eligibility criteria of each bank diversify. Your bank can also grant you concessions based on your banking history. The banks with good programs under this initiative are: JS Bank JS Bank is giving solar investment under its JS Bank ApnaGhar solar financing program. The bank grants financing of Rs. 10 million without any collateral. The amount is to be repaid in installments over ten years, with a markup rate of 6% per annum. Allied Bank Allied bank allows a loan of Rs. 10 million under the SBP re-financing program for renewable energy. The markup is set to be 6% per annum, and the amount is to be repaid in parts within 10 years. Bank Alfalah Bank Alfalah extends loans for solar sponsoring under the Alfalah Green Energy program, in partnership with the SBP re-financing program for renewable energy. The bank proffers a loan of Rs. 2 million without any deposit for 10 years. The markup rate is set at 6% annually.
