  1. 3 Skills Auto Electrician Job Applicants Need When Applying to Mining Companies in WA It’s a well-known fact that mining is Western Australia’s biggest economic contributor. The state is the site of some of the largest mining projects in the country, which include Boddington gold mine, Fimiston gold mine, and Argyle diamond mine, to name a few. In the past year alone, the industry brought in 85% of the state’s—and 41% of the country’s—total merchandise exports, earning well beyond 100 billion AUD in sales. This continued success can be credited to, among others, the concerted effort of the people working in mining. Historically, the industry has employed the most number of people in Western Australia, which averaged to upwards of 112,000 individuals last year. Despite these numbers, however, there remains a strong demand for more people in the field. Shortage in human resources can be an issue for mining companies, but it’s a golden opportunity for workers who are keen on flying in and out of Western Australia and benefiting from the increased worker demand. In particular, auto electrician jobs in Western Australia appeal to those who want to try their hands at mining. Auto electricians are responsible for repairing and maintaining specialised mining vehicles and equipment, which carry out essential tasks on a site, as well as diagnosing electrical malfunctions and switching out faulty electrical wiring. As proof of high-quality training, interested applicants are required to possess a Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent qualification. In addition, would-be auto electricians in Western Australia will find the following qualities essential when applying to or working in a mining site: 1. Outstanding problem-solving skills. A good chunk of an auto electrician’s work is finding technical issues using their analytical skills and then solving them. In mines where they’re tasked with maintaining mining equipment, auto electricians don’t just notice when something’s wrong, they’re also expected to anticipate issues that are likely to turn into problems. Aside from having troubleshooting skills, they should be able to use diagnostic equipment properly, interpret the data presented by their diagnostic equipment, and ensure that their tools are in perfect condition. 2. Excellent communication skills. While a great deal of an auto electrician’s job is hands-on problem solving, being good with people is still an important requirement for the job. Auto electricians need to be able to explain the issue in everyday language, which will help them build their reputation among the people who rely on their services. Their communication and people skills will also be put to work when understanding work-related material, coordinating with suppliers and vendors, dealing and consulting with co-workers, and training other people in the team. 3. Drive to learn. Auto electricians must embrace technology to move their career forward. To stay relevant, they need to keep up with technological changes and how they can apply these to their work on the field. What’s more, auto electricians know the value of learning from their seniors and how additional courses and training can help them improve their job prospects. Right now is the perfect time to apply for auto electrician jobs in Western Australia, or at least acquire the necessary skills to be considered for the job. As the mining scene in the state continues to hire more

  2. people this year, would-be auto electricians will be glad to know that their hard-earned skills and training will give them a head start in a lucrative and rewarding career in mining.
