This phenomenological case study explores attitudes & perceptions of middle school students towards the C.A.R.E.S. program, offering advocacy, remediation, and enrichment through character education classes and school spirit activities. The program includes advocacy teachers who support students in various areas, academic rigor, high stakes testing, and transitions during adolescence. Opportunities for enrichment include art, music, PE, and computer classes, promoting a caring learning community. By understanding student perspectives, school leaders can make adjustments to better meet student needs, provide professional development, involve stakeholders, and plan SIP goals for holistic child development.
