  1. Multimedia Approach to Geometry

  2. This session will allow you to take a step into student centered learning with technology. It will be easy to see how a project based lesson can transfer information learned in class into practical application. The project uses a computer, digital camera, and a Smartboard to make a lesson come to life. You will leave with a lesson that is ready to use.

  3. Geometric figures (lines, rays, and angles) are present in our everyday surroundings. How are geometric figures used in our real world surroundings?

  4. Knowledge Standards 3rd Grade Math G1 Identify geometric representations for points, lines, perpendicular lines, parallel lines, angles, and rays.

  5. Writing and Language 10. Apply mechanics in writing, including capitalization of proper nouns and titles of people and appropriate end marks, abbreviations, and commas with dates. 4. Use a wide range of strategies and skills, including retelling information, using context clues, and making inferences to identify main idea, to comprehend third-grade informational and functional reading materials. 12. Demonstrate retrieval skills needed to research a topic. 13. Demonstrate the ability to follow multistep oral directions. 14. Demonstrate eye contact, articulation, and appropriate voice intonation with oral narrative presentations

  6. Technology Use various technology applications, including word processing and multimedia 8. Collect information from a variety of digital sources. 10. Use digital environments to collaborate and communicate. 12. Create a product using digital tools. 6. Develop positive attitudes towards using technology collaboratively.

  7. Criteria of Success 1. Students will research and define points, lines, perpendicular lines, parallel lines, angles, and rays. 2. They will produce a multimedia presentation showing geometric representations in our environment by taking pictures in the real world and highlighting the lines, rays, or angles present in the photograph.

  8. The sky is the limit! Allow your students to make the project their own and you will be pleasantly surprised.
