Professor St. John’s Background • Started at Santa Monica College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science -Business Administration degree with an option in Accounting at Cal State Long Beach • CPA licensed in California and in public accounting for over 35 years • Last 19 years teaching here at Fullerton College full time Paul R.   4. Paul R. St.John, CPA You may want to follow along with a copy of the syllabus. Accounting can’t be mastered by reading and lecture alone, you must apply the knowledge learned in practice, repeatedly. Once you get it, however, you have an invaluable skill for life.

  5. Normally chapters are available 3 or 4 days before the start date, but for Chapter 1 Cengage is not available until the start date, June 17th. There are two chapters per week. There is a limited availability on most assignments past the due date without penalty. This extension period should only be used for emergencies and / or to ask questions to finish the last 10 to 20% of the chapter. No further extensions are given. Paul R. St.John, CPA

  11. Canvas our eClassroom – Module 1 Read / scan the text and take the Ch01 Adaptive Study Plan. These next three items should be done at the same time. Answer one of the discussion questions for the first point, and later for follow-up point. Then the next two are the second half of the chapter, but still use the Ch01 Lecture Plus. Fullerton College Business / CIS Division Homework done on your own. These last two items are done together. Ch01 Module looks a little overwhelming, but all these pieces fit together to engage your learning of financial accounting in an online environment while staying very close to the traditional delivery in the brick and mortar classroom.

A Tough, Time Consuming 5 Unit Course • It may seem like a lot of busy work, but accounting requires lots of practice to really understand what is happening and why • You should take 10-15 seconds and reflect after each exercise is performed successfully • Ask yourself why is it important and how does it fit into the accounting cycle? • Once you get it (accounting), you have it for life and you can apply accounting to any of your pursuits and passions • The first four chapters are the most important • The math for the most part is not that tough • Everyone can succeed as long as you put in the time and effort Paul R.
