William Shakespeare – biography and work. The early years.  Born in April 1564 in Stratford on Avon.  His father - a fairly rich merchant. Shakespeare‘s schooling.  Marriage to Anne Hathaway in 1582. Wife and Children.  Anne was 26, he was 18  3 children.

  7. It is not known exactly how many roles Shakespeare played himself but we do know that Shakespeare had began his career on the stage by 1592. It is probable that Shakespeare played the title role in Edward I in 1593 It is also assumed that he played smaller roles in a variety of his own plays, including As You Like It (Adam), Macbeth (King Duncan), Henry IV (King Henry), and Hamlet (Hamlet's father)

  8. In addition to his popularity as both an actor and playwright, Shakespeare became joint owner of the famous Globe theater when it opened in 1599. His share of the company's management added heavily to his wealth.

  14. The end of his life • Return to Stratford in 1610 • Destruction of the Globe Theatre in 1613 (the Great Fire of London) • In 1616 Shakespeare died on April, 23 (his birthday!)
