Project Communications Management provides the critical links between people, ideas, and information that are necessary for project success

COMMUNUCATIONS MODEL • Source • the originator of the communication, e.g., either the organization, supervisors, subordinates, peers, client, or associates • Encoder • the source's ideas are translated into a systematic set of symbols to provide the structure in which ideas, purposes, intentions, etc. can be expressed as an understandable message. • Message • the actual physical product of the source encoder, or the physical thought, idea, etc. presented to the receiver from the sender in a code known by both.

For example, a memo or perhaps a verbal communication. • Receiver • the recipient of the message. No communication occurs until the recipient accepts and makes the meaning common between the receiver and the sender. • Decoder • similar to encoder, but from the receiver's perspective
