Assessment (SOLAR)

This plan aims to further develop curricula and assessment in line with our 4 pathways, implement systems for supporting students' self-assessment and identification of next steps in learning, and ensure high-quality assessment and data analysis to meet OFSTED requirements. It includes the use of a secure online assessment tool, parental involvement, ongoing monitoring and reflection, and personalized plans.

  2. School Development Plan Key Objectives: Further develop curricula and assessment that meets the needs of our 4 Pathways Develop systems for supporting pupils with self-assessment and identification of next steps learning Ensure high quality of assessment and data analysis

Ofsted Requirements • Judged on the quality of teaching, learning and assessment • Teachers use assessment for establishing pupils’ starting points and to modify teaching so that pupils achieve their potential by the end of a year or key stage • Assessment draws on a range of evidence of what pupils know, understand and can do across the curriculum • Teachers make consistent judgements about pupils’ progress and attainment

  4. Secure, online assessment tool • Used to record and share pupils’ progress in academic subjects (Literacy, Numeracy, Science and Computing), non-academic areas (social and independence skills), Early Years Foundation Stage and swimming. • Used for target-setting and to track pupils’ progress towards these targets • Photos, videos and written evaluations of learning can be uploaded onto SOLAR

  5. Progress to date • All teachers, TAs and therapists have access to SOLAR • Assessment Frameworks available and amended, where necessary • All pupils baselined to establish starting points • Key Stage, annual and termly targets set and moderated by Heads of Pathways

  6. Continued… • Parental access and input towards pupils’ assessment • Whole-school review of SOLAR – ongoing cycle of monitoring, reflection and action • Clear, informative evaluations of pupils’ progress collated • Ongoing monitoring of the quantity and quality of evidence within Pathways

  7. Future Actions • Personalised Plans shared and evaluated on SOLAR • Subject Leaders / teachers to collate ‘gaps’ in assessment frameworks, so that frameworks can be adapted to meet the needs of pupils and Pathways • Internal and external moderation • Pupil self-assessment systems reviewed
