  1. PV Install is an experienced and fully accredited solar panel installation company covering the whole of Southern England.  PV Install are your local MCS accredited solar panel installation company, based in Wiltshire we specialize in the installation of PV solar panels for home and business customers. Installing Solar Photovoltaic panels will generate clean green energy and save you money. We have installed many systems in the South of England, take a look at our portfolio to see some examples of our work.

  2. PV SOLAR PANEL Solar panels are made from Silicon (Si) a naturally occurring element found in the earth's crust, the silicon is heated to over 1400°C – far higher than it's melting point, once molten a seed crystal is dipped in the silicon. As the silicon cools around the seed crystal it forms a mono-crystalline structure with the crystals forming in single direction, the seed crystal is used to make a ingot of pure mono-crystalline silicon over the course of about 48 hours.  Once the ingot has formed and cooled it is ready to be sliced and polished into mono-crystalline solar wafers, up to 90 of these thin mono-crystalline wafers will form the solar module. The solar modules are “doped” usually with boron and phosphorus, this enables the n and p semi conductor junctions that allow the solar panels to produce electricity from photons (light).

  3. Solar Installation  • The roof anchors attach the mounting rails securely to the rafters of the roof, large coach bolts are used to secure the anchors at predetermined points along the roof. • Spacing of the roof anchors is dependant on the stresses and strains caused by wind and snow loading, in high wind locations extra brackets are used along the mounting rail to ensure any load is spread safely across a greater area. To access the rafter it is usually necessary to slide the tile up, once the roof anchor is fixed in place the tile is returned to the previous position to ensure a weathertight seal. • Once the rails are in place the solar panels can be secured to the rail using frame clips, the panels are then connected using the fitted leads. Dependant on the configuration of the arrays there usually 8 or 16 panels connected together. The panels will then be connected to the inverter via a DC cabling run.

  4. Inverter Installation Inverters are required to convert the Direct Current (DC) of the solar array into usable Alternating Current (AC). Inverters are available in many configurations and types, they are usually matched to panels and the required number of arrays. This Inverter is a Sunny 4000tl, for this installation a dual maxium power point tracker inverter must be used because of the 2 seperate arrays (SE and SW roof) on this project. Usually one one roof is used which allows the choice of many other inverters The inverter is installed with one DC switch per array - the white switches on the lower left. These act as isolation switches if the array needs maintenance. The output of the array is recorded using a generation meter, this measures the generation of the array and will be used to calculate the feed in tariff payments. A red lockable AC isolator is installed to allow the system to be isolated – this will allow routine electrically works to be carried within the property safely. The system is then connected via an RCD to properties electrical distribution unit, the solar electricity will then power the home with any excess being returned to the local electric grid via the main electricity meter.
