History of SARS • Began in November 2002. • Didn’t inform the World Health Organization (WHO) of the outbreak until February 2003. • Transferred from civets (cat-like mammals) to humans. • November 2002 and June 2003, people caught the virus. • No cases have been reported since 2004. • ("SARS")

  5. Symptoms of SARS • Flu-like symptoms. • Coughing. • Fever above 38°C. • Sore throat. • Pneumonia. • ("SARS")

  6. Transmission of SARS • Water droplets when an infected person coughs/sneezes. • Not transmitted through the air. • ("SARS")

Cures/Treatments of SARS • You must stay at the hospital. • You're put in isolation to prevent passing the disease. • Antiviral medicine. • No medicine is known to cure SARS. • 1/3 of the people with SARS recover. • Dying from SARS depends on a person's age and health. • ("WebMed") • SARS receive the same treatment as pneumonia.("Centers for Disease Control and Prevention").
