Starting point: Class to receive a letter from a unhealthy super hero asking for help. Children complete KWL grid (9-10). Then have a Tasty Impact cookery session, making kebabs, smoothes & pancakes. Also a keep fit session. 11-12 (Yr 2 cook, Yr 1 keep fit)

  1. Starting point: Class to receive a letter from a unhealthy super hero asking for help.Children complete KWL grid (9-10). Then have a Tasty Impact cookery session, making kebabs, smoothes & pancakes. Also a keep fit session. 11-12 (Yr 2 cook, Yr 1 keep fit) 1-2 (Yr 1 cook, Yr 2 keep fit). Finally – draw their unhealthy super hero and give him a name. Literacy: Instructions: Outcomes – write a set of instructions for a variety of activities: Making fruit kebab, cleaing teeth, cleaning hands, keep fit routine. Recount: Outcome –. Children to recount the day their Grandparent visited school. Key Text: Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge (Mem Fox)Keeping HealthyOur Senses. Geography: children to find out about pack lunches from around the world and create a lunch box world map. ICT: Outcome: The children use internet (Healthy schools website) and Espresso to research health foods. Use Microsoft word to type instructions.Use RM graph for maths/science graphs. Guided reading: Keeping HealthyOur Senses. Music: create a rap for their instructions. HealthHow are you? Science: Ask questions and conduct investigations & observations, make comparisons and record findings.Learn about how to be healthy.Learn about parts of the body.Learn about importance of exercise & healthy eating.Learn about the senses.Compare similarities & differences between themselves & others. PE: Dance – Exercise routines Other PE lessons will be covered by external coach. Outcome: Chn to publish a How to Keep Healthy Booklet. It will have all of their instructions and recount, write to their super hero to tell them how to be healthy. Have a Healthy Hero day:Children to dress as their Hero, visit Rec & Nursery andteach them their exercises and how to clean hands. PSHCE: WWO and SEALs – Getting on and falling out. RE Celebrations Art Chn to learn skills of colour mixing. Create a self portrait (1/2 photo half portrait) Health food plate collage Maths: Follow MTPs Links: Data handling and measurements – Is the oldest child in class the tallest?Measuring body. Visit: School Nurse – germs & keeping clean hands, brushing teeth. Grandparent Afternoon: Grandparents in children to measure them, compare sizes, and find out what they ate to be healthy as a child. Children to make fruit kebab with grandparent. Spelling: Year 1: Following Phases 3 & 4 Year 2: Following Phase 5
