Whatis Self-learning? • It is a theory developed by many thinkers and educators like MalcomKnowles and Roger Hiemstra. The theory involves some self-directed learning tools that help students to be autonomous learners. SL is “a process in which people take primary initiative for planning, carrying out, and evaluating their own learning” (Merriam & Caffarella, 1999)
Why is Self Learning part of ELSD at KSU/PY? • It empowersstudents to thinkcritically. • It enableslearners to depend on themselves and explore theirpotentials in the learningprocess.
Vision To make the KSU-PYD Self Learning program the most effective and leading self-directed learning program in Saudi universities.
Mission To create distinguished learners who are able to implement the critical thinking skills and lead independent learning in their current and future studies
