So, what’s the point? • Sustainability needs to be addressed immediately (not in the future) • Migrations are happening ALL the time • They are not being done well • They are often driven by vendors • They are not scoped, costed or considered seriously • Bad migrations lead to worse migrations • Business (and RM) isn’t getting this • Records ‘don’t exist’ within business systems • Disasters await!

  6. What to do • Electronic Recordkeeping Metadata Standards • Document configurations • Document migration decisions • Involvement in early stages of privatisation/outsourcing • Proactive involvement in business systems design
