  1. Veterinarian Salary: As soon as you graduate from college, you can expect an average salary of $15,000-$25,000 per year. As you get more experienced, you can expect about $35,000-$65,000 per year. Task: You might work in a private practice with small animals such as cats, dogs, hamsters, or birds, or maybe you'll work with farm or zoo animals. Other vets become teachers, researchers. They may inspect food for the government or become environmental workers. Education: To become a vet, you must truly care about helping them and be ready for 6-8 years of college. To become a DVM (Doctor of Veterinary Medicine) you will have to take classes in college like anatomy, physiology, pathology, and microbiology.
