Against the government • The colonists wanted to take down the British Government. • The citizens of Yemen protested that the president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, should resign from office. • Financial Issues • In the colonies, the government couldn’t tax the citizens so that made it very difficult to get out of debt and pay for expenses. • Yemen is naturally a low income country. Military • During the 1700s in the colonies, women were limited to jobs and couldn’t serve in the military. • In Yemen, there are 4,116,895 women qualified to serve in the military. • Slavery • In the colonies, whites were the superior race. Slaves weren’t freed because their labor was needed. (abolished in 1808) • In Yemen, everyone is equal no matter their race, age, nationality, etc. • Government • The colonies didn’t have an executive or judicial branch. • Yemen today, has an executive, judicial, and legislative.   8. It will take a long time for Yemen to encounter anything close to peace. With a president like Yemen’s , it will be difficult to get the country on the right path to success especially when you have a president that won’t voluntarily leave office anytime soon. It is very possible that another revolution will come. On the right path?
