Mounting for Competition. A Quick Primer. I use Framer’s Tape, ordered from Matcutter.com. Mounting the Picture - TSF. Tulsa State Fair requires matting without any backing, which is a bit different. I attach the picture to the matte using what I call an I taping pattern.

  1. Mounting for Competition A Quick Primer

  2. I use Framer’s Tape, ordered from Matcutter.com

  3. Mounting the Picture - TSF • Tulsa State Fair requires matting without any backing, which is a bit different. • I attach the picture to the matte using what I call an I taping pattern.

  4. Start with Matte Upside Down

  5. First attach picture to matte Upside down matte Top of Picture Tape picture to matte Top

  6. Then secure both joints with crossing tape “I” taping schema

  7. For the Tulsa State Fair • Write your name and class on the back of the photo, and you are good to go!!!

  8. To Mount with Matte and Backing • (Not for State Fair) Upside Down Matte Put matte backing adjacent to top Top

  9. Attaching Matte to Backing • Use the I taping method to attach the matte to the backing. Top

  10. Attach the Picture to the Matte • Use the I taping method to attach the picture to the matte Top

  11. Keeping It All Together… I add a few pieces of tape folded over on top of itself to keep the matte and backing together. Close and you are good to go…. Top
