  2. What I want to do… • I would like to become a registered nurse. • Ever since I was little, when I would see a nurse I would think “ I want to be like them when I'm older.” • I have never been a germ-a-phob and blood has never affected me.

  3. Why I want to be a Nurse… • Ever since I can remember I have wanted to be a nurse. • I think what most set my mind to it was when my aunt went to nursing school. • When people get hurt I have always wanted to help and I want to help people. • Plus I have had my own share of injuries myself, so I know the pain.

  4. What nurses have to do… • Take care of sick, injured people. • Help doctors examine their patients. • Give tests to find out why people are sick. • Nurses also teach people how to take care of themselves and their family. Ex. Good nutrition, exercise. • They take care of babies. • Do lab work and treat wounds.

  5. What I need to do… In high school I need to… • Get a good GPA and work hard so I can get into a good program. • Take science and math classes. In college I need to… • Work hard and take science and math classes. • Get a bachelors degree.

  6. College • I want to attend the nursing school at Michigan State University. • This program is hard to get into. • You must have a bachelor’s degree in science to get in to this program. Unless you enter it your freshman year of college.

  7. Why I want to go there… • My family has always been huge fans of MSU. Ever since I was little I would go to basketball and football games. • Not only that, but the nursing program is really good and I want to be in a program so I can get a good job.

  8. After college • After college I plan to get a job at a doctors office or a hospital. • I plan to use my skills to take me far in life so my family and I can have a good life.

  9. How much nurses make a year… • The starting salary for a registered nurse with a bachelors degree will make $40,000 to $50,000 a year. • With a masters degree, it is $50,000 to $62,000 a year.

  10. Experience • I don’t have much experience myself with being a nurse but I have been around it and watched it. • The most experience I would say I would have would be from watching the nurses at the doctors office and hospital. • And I have been there plenty of times.

  11. Things I could do to prepare myself • I could volunteer at a hospital during the summer. • Help out the old people that live around me.
