About project: Seniors for Seniors • Organization that implements the project: • Czech Police of the Czech Republic • http://www.policie.cz/clanek/seniori-sobe-627170.aspx • in cooperation with active seniors • Project description • to reduce the number of cheated and robbed persons • increase the legal awareness of people • strengthen security of seniors

Three principles • active cooperation • Voluntary training for becoming " messengerof a prevention“, and dispers the information • the voluntary nature of the activity - to protect seniors and their close friends from property criminality Side effect: • motivate community leaders to preventive activities at the local level

Who is messenger of prevention? • communicative and active seniors • Where to find them? • By Local goverment – marshal asked the representatives of municipalities for the list of reliable contacts, able and willing seniors in their community who could become „messenger of prevention". • And it works very welll

  6. Messenger´s bag: • Stickers on the door – Information booklet - Reflective stickers - Information DVD – Poster - questionnaire

  7. What´ s the next step? • to visit 15 seniors who live alone • instructthem how to prevent against the property crime against seniors and provide them with the information materials, • could find out what are the security measures in apartments of elderly, • talk to seniors and share their concerns and experiences. • DVD session in seniors club

  8. Evaluation • messengers of prevention completed a questionnaire for seniors, • the police depatrments collected also the information from messengersof prevention and from community representatives from the project • The questionnaire survey shows that there is still a large group of elderly people, who do not realize the impending danger, and therefore it is necessary to encourage the elderly to use the available security measures.
