  1. Restoring the Soul of Business: Staying Human in the Age of Data This is a singular moment in organizational time. Businesses great and small, from old-fashioned bricks-and-mortars to cutting-edge startups, are moving into uncharted territory as they determine how to most effectively move from an analog past to a digital future. They are increasingly leaving behind traditional meetings in favor of virtual ones, transitioning from surveys and studies to analytics and algorithms. But here is a startling and often unacknowledged truth: the promise of digital transformation can only be realized when we find a way to balance it with the promise of people. In the end, it’s people and dreams that matter, and companies must never forget the soul that drives them. 6 I Approach Companies can attach meaning to data by following the “6 I Approach”: Interpret, Involve, Interconnect, Imagine, Iterate, and Investigate. Productivity Screen-use policies in the office are becoming necessary to protect productivity. However, those policies need to be forward-thinking and not “retro” in nature. Becoming too strict at this point, where screen time is a normal part of everyday life, won’t work. Leading Change Companies should use three tactics to ensure change occurs successfully: incentivize the new behaviors let go of people, regardless of level, who won’t align with (and may sabotage) change and stay the course with investment, despite the expected financial bumps. Running Great Meetings Meetings don’t have to be boring they can, and should, be meaningful and memorable. Five types of meaningful meetings are Unknown Meetings, “Can You Help?” Meetings, Woodshed Meetings, Jerry McGuire-Inspired Meetings, and “Let’s Get a Beer” Meetings.
