Communications Materials Review “Help me, help you.” -Jerry McGuire
Why We Are Doing This • NASA-produced material is pivotal to strong communications efforts • Differing messages are ineffective because they “cancel each other out” • Need coordination of messages to accomplish effective strategies
How we can do this • Capitalize on an electronic system to capture and archive materials • Electronic review and approval of materials for a quick turn-around • Access of data enables efficient organization of communications
Phase I.a: Collection • What’s included: NASA-funded, internal and external, all media, all sources • What’s not included: Technical material; internal memos and correspondence; developed through Space Act Agreements “When in doubt, sent it out!”
Phase I.b: Data Analysis • Baseline for Benchmarking • The more data received, the more accurate the analysis, the best strategies • Results will be shared
Phase II: Review and Approval • Drafting process for new and continuing materials • Communicate evaluation criteria • Starts with self-compliance • Electronic feedback of approval within 2 weeks
Next Steps • Inform Agency to send materials, include user guide • Gather comments; make improvements • Finalize criteria and process for review and approval of new and continuing materials • Communicate process, key messages, criteria and start date Then we strap in!
